Welcome to baconeggs.co.uk
the personal web space of Stuart & Darryl

Our main reason for starting this site was for our gallery but we've also added a few other items of possibly general interest,Our Spanish House but as to whether they are or not is up to you!

Our Gallery is mainly aimed at our friends and family so they can see what we have been up to but, even if you don't fall into that category, you're welcome to have a look around.

In addition, our family tree is also published on this site but, as it also includes people still living, it's restricted by password to family and friends. If you want the password, please send us a message.

We update the site on a very loose schedule. Normally, when we sit down to do any work on web pages, it's usually on the pages we're being paid to do and not on these ...... and those will be for magentasteel.com, our web design company. But we do try !

As you will see if you look at our Gallery, we bought a house in Spain in 2007. Our Spanish HouseWe go over there as often as possible and, though it wasn't in too bad a state when we bought it, we've made quite a few changes to it. And there are still a few more to do but it is now in a state fit for accepting visitors and we've welcomed quite a few family and friends to stay with us already.

Our attempts at learning Spanish lurch from poor to poorer but, bit by bit, we are getting more comfortable with being able to cope with situations there. We may not express ourselves very well or very accurately, but we do usually manage to at least make ourselves understood. And having only Spanish TV helps as you either get to grips with the language or surf until you find something worth watching that has an English soundtrack.

What's New (last updated April 2012)

April 2012:

A trip of a lifetime. That's what we decided on. We'd both been to the West Coast of the USA before but never to Las Vegas and San Franciscothe Grand Canyon. And we both love San Francisco. So we thought we wrap them all up in one trip.

Grand Canyon & Colorado RiverWe started in San Francisco, had four days in Las Vegas of which one was dedicated to the Grand Canyon and then went back to San Francisco to finish off the holiday.

Apart from a quite manic 10½ hour flight out surrounded by 40 or more youths and youth-esses full of exuberance that filled the aircraft cabin to overflowing, but with thankfully no misbehaviour, we had a great time. Our pictures and a few videos are in the Gallery.

August 2011:

We've lost count of how many times have we heard ourselves say 'we ought to go there/do that one day'. Our Spanish House So we made a resolution to go to some of these places and do some of those things. The Eden Project in Cornwall was one on both our lists so we made that number 1 in 2011. Our Spanish HouseAnd, when in Spain, we visited Madrid and took the AVE, the high-speed train - so that was two more off the list.

And then in July we went to Granada to see, amongst other things, the Alhambra and Generalife. Fantastic seems a bit tame to describe it. And stunning just doesn't do it justice.

The pictures are in the Gallery if you want to have a look.

New Software (June 2011)

We've updated the software that runs the gallery. All the sections have been refreshed and we've checked them out for obvious errors - but if you find any, obvious or otherwise please let us know.

I hope you'll find the slideshow is much improved from the old clunky one and the 'click to enlarge' of the gallery pictures now grow from the existing page rather than opening a new window - click the gallery picture to enlarge it.

And last, but not least, you may have noticed the site is getting a spring-clean with a new page layout and colours and a new banner at the top. And not before time!
